Four Days

This is a short film from a firing in 2012 which gives a glimpse of loading the last few (of 200 or so) pots into the  kiln, bricking up the wicket and the gentle but continuous stoking of the kiln over three days and two nights with my team of helpers. Many thanks to my daughter Katie for this. I hope you enjoy!

2014 Christmas Exhibition

2014imageMy Christmas Exhibition is a bit earlier that usual this year, over the weekend of 22nd/23rd November.

My basement studio at 27 High Street will be open from 10am-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

I’m delighted to once again have a selection of newly turned, wooden bowls by Ralph Curry and, this year, to also have some new paintings by Steve Tossell.

Please do drop by!

June 2014 Firing

A few pictures from the June 2014 firing.

We were blessed with superb summer weather and with the invaluable assistance of Erika and Lili, visiting from Austria, the three-day firing went very smoothly, despite a pair of nesting wagtails making part of my woodstack unusable. The kiln is now behaving very well, gaining and maintaining temperature easily. And I finally seem to be learning how to stack the kiln to get plenty of flame through the bottom, to give good heat distribution and, hopefully, better flashing and ashing throughout.
